x LOCALS ONLY X
We are so lucky that Ottawa has so many talented artists and that they are more often then not willing to collaborate on something with others in the city. The most recent collaboration in town comes from our great friends Robbie Lariviere, artist and owner of Fall Down Gallery and, Pat Bolduc a really rad guy and amazing photographer. We have a few behind the scenes snaps here for you but what really went down in FDG's basement that day won't be released for a while yet...

ATCR x Polaris Music Prize
Something very extraordinary happened to us today, we are grateful to announce that our debut, self titled album has been voted onto the 2012 Polaris Music Prize long list. This is a true Canadian honour for us to be nominated by an amazing panel and along side such talented fellow musicians. To catch you up to speed for those who may not be as familiar with the prize, Polaris is a not-for-profit organization that honours, celebrates and rewards creativity and diversity in Canadian recorded music. Polaris recognizes and markets albums of the highest artistic integrity, without regard to musical genre, professional affiliation, or sales history. It is adjudicated by selected music journalists, broadcasters and bloggers. Seeing as our first album only came out a small matter of months ago it is a great reward to be recognized to this degree and to be nominated alongside some amazing talent such as Leonard Cohen, Blackie and The Rodeo Kings, Drake, Grimes, Cadence Weapon and The Weeknd. Until the short list is announced on July 17th we will soak up this special moment. Thank you to everyone who has downloaded our album and continues to share it, we are extremely grateful for your support. Also, by clicking here you can take a look at the full Polaris Long List to see all forty nominees as well as other official Polaris announcements and news.

MAYJOR.
It's that time again my friends, the second Saturday of the month marks one of the most exciting nights in Ottawa. If you go back in time on our twitter page (and follow us @atribecalledred if you aren't already) than you will recall the mass lineup that congragated outside of Babylon night club last month and that alone should be enough to convince you that Electric Pow Wow is the party that you should come to this weekend. It is going to be a fun one, especially because we are all in such high spirits right now what with Shub's big win and our Summer tour (we just got back from playing Boston and NYC and it was bangiiiinnnnnnn) it isn't hard to come up with a reason to celebrate.
OH WAIT EXCEPT THERE IS ANOTHER HUGE REASON WE ARE HAPPY RIGHT NOW.

TWICE A WINNER.
So remember when Shub won the Ontario division of the Redbull Thre3Style Championships, and it was decided he would travel great lengths over to Halifax to go head to head (times six) for the Canadian title? Remember the feeling in the pit of your stomach that told you "duh, he's going to win" and the feeling of hope that the pit in your stomach was a good decision maker and that everyone's hopes would come true?
I am so incredibly stoked to say that, not only is the best party rocker in Canada a member of A Tribe Called Red, but he is a talented, respected and all around pretty chill native dude. Congrats to Shub, and keep an eye as we follow him to Chicago in September to see him compete for the...WORLD TITLE.
And then remember they did?

A Pretty Darn Decent Way To Start The Summer
Last week marked the day of our official record release party and the kick off of our summer tour dates, so we all packed up our gear and tried to fit everything into Dan's car...after a few minutes of baggage tetris, some fuel for the car from Mr. Gas and for us from Tim Horton's we were off.
Finally, show time and what a nice surprise for us when we walked down into the venue to see this...

| this was difficult... |
We all know the drive down to TO can be painfully long but we were lucky and it felt like it just flew right by, probably thanks to our bro Ryan McMahon's Red Man Laughing podcast. First stop once we arrived? Check in at The Drake Hotel, our release party was at The Drake Underground, an intimate little space in the basement of the hotel and we were staying the the artist apartments, this cool concept that they have come with where they own a separate apartment building for artist's they invite to play. The apartment's have recently been redone according to what I have heard but it still kind of felt like we were at sleep away camp or in that Tom Hank's movie, Big.

| super neat place, gotta check it out if you ever get the chance. thanks for being so accommodating! |
![]() |
| tired deejays, giant beds. |
![]() |
| this wall was covered in posters for events that had taken place at the underground, so many good friends up there! |
![]() |
| ATCR IN LIGHTS! |
Naps were definitely mandatory and when we woke up we met up with our ATCR manager and one of the greatest dudes around, G, for some of The Drake's famous burgers.
![]() |
| Guillaume, this guy takes such good care of us. |
![]() |
| here we goooooo... |
![]() |
| everyone was waiting! |
Seeing all these people in line for us was a really nice surprise and right away we knew we were in for an amazing night. The place filled up almost as soon as the doors were unbolted and we played the night away to a great crowd.

| you can still get one of these babies if you're feelin it. |

| the small venue made for a pretty sweaty and intimate time. |

| stoked |
The night was sooo good. All around good vibes and celebrations, this really did mark the beginning of our travels coming in the next few months and it was a solid night to really kick that off. In true touring fashion though, staying in one place isn't an option...bright and early the next day we were up and out of there to bring Ian and Bear to the airport and send them off to Vancouver for Indigenous After Dark hosted by OsTwelve along side our friend IsKwe and the raddest duo that is Dani and Lizzy...buut Dan had to stay behind in TO for some other things...

| YYZ --> YVR |
As you probably recall, a few weeks ago Dan won the title of Ottawa's Redbull Thre3Style Champion which meant he was to compete for the official Ontario title. This so happened to have landed on the day after our party so we stuck around for the competition. This was a big one, whoever won would be competing for Canada in Halifax at the end of the month (no pressure or anything...). The comp was to be held at the Mod Club on College St. a much bigger venue than the previous competition which was held at Ritual, and this meant more people to play for, six huge projectors capturing every move of the competitors and just an overall kind of crazier experience.

| this truck runs off redbull |
![]() |
| you know what it's all about. |
![]() |
| Dan drew first...foreshadowing perhaps? |
![]() |
| the mod club was huge in comparison to the drake underground, that's a lot of people. |
The competition was pretty intense, especially with another wicked deejay from Ottawa in the mix and especially after Dan pulled numbers and found out he was up first. But, our boy absolutely killed it. The crowd loved him, his set was perfect and Dan himself was looking pretty pleased once he walked off the stage to a screaming crowd.

| Dan's bro came down to support. |

| so much love from our Ottawa fam, DJ BrainsforBreakfast came down too! |
![]() |
| and the after math of the night... |
![]() |
| Conor Cutz was a great host. |
![]() |
| and this man, this is Alex, he organized he event and is a real good dude. |
